Agathosune is goodness for the benefit of others, not goodness simply for the sake of being virtuous. It’s a moral characteristic of a Spirit-filled person. It results in a life characterized by deeds motivated by righteousness and a desire to be a blessing. 'Every tree which does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire' ( Matthew 7:19 ). If His Spirit is in us, these traits that are the Spirit's fruit should also become fundamental characteristics of our nature. humility' Humility (i.e., anavah: ) The Hebrew word anavah implies a sense of inner poverty that can only be healed by giving and serving others. The fruit of the Spirit reflects the goodness, faithfulness and self-restraint inherent in God's nature. Goodness is virtue and holiness in action. The Holy Spirit enables the heart to be a safe source of counsel and strength for others. Everything in the list reflects the character of God, and goodness is one that relates directly to morality. Where we had harbored selfishness, cruelty, rebelliousness, and spite, we now possess love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
As the Holy Spirit works in our lives, our character changes. “Fruit,” here, means "beneficial results," the good things that come from the Spirit’s indwelling. In Galatians 5:22-23, Paul lists the " fruit of the Spirit".
